November 2017: Talking Jazz with Emilie Conway
NOVEMBER 2017
Good afternoon folks!
To book end the extraordinary year 2017 turned out to be so far, (though it skulked in with lingering eye infections and all manner of quirks) we're returning to where all the magic began with a small cozy Winter Jazz concert at Ranelagh Arts Centre, Sunday Dec 3, 5-7pm. This will be with my whole band: Johnny Taylor, piano, Damian Evan, bass and Dominic Mullan so it will be a great opportunity to hear them in this intimate space. Yes, it's a very intimate space so do come early to get a seat and put in some quality time with mince pies and mulled wine - courtesy of Mortons! Talking Jazz with Emilie Conway on Jazz ireland
The Maeve Brennan celebration with Angela Bourke and Cathy Belton at Ranelagh Arts sparked my imagination and led to many exciting invitations to perform in Chicago and New York. I wrote an article about it for Jazz Ireland which you can read here: http://www.jazzireland.ie/blog/talking-jazz/117-talking-jazz-with-emilie...
And here's my painting of my peony rose, that journeyed with me from Chicago to New York to live in our hotel room at the infamous Washington Square Hotel....
That all these months of work and growing of the material culminated in to a sell out concert at the John Field Room in Sept was very lovely. Than you for your support. There's talk of reprising You Won't Forget Me ... we'll see......
This Sunday, 8pm the Dublin Bach Singers are performing Bach's B Minor Mass @ The Pro-Cathedral with full orchestra. I can't believe how generous sponsors have been in supporting this concert including our own Redmond's of Ranelagh - thank you. If you don't know Bach or the mass ... just listen to this, Gratias Agimus Tibi ... I think it's one of the most beautiful things in the world ..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4x4gj1fqSE
Finally, I'm running a children's Christmas art workshop Sunday Dec 2 at Ranelagh Arts Centre 10:30-12. Please contact me if you have little ones between the ages of 5-10 who might like to come. Materials provided. Spaces limited to 8 children. Parents welcome to stay.
Thanks for all your support of live music, poetry, art and all us artists out there trying to make a crust!
Take care of yourselves and each other and hope to see you soon!
