September 2017: You Won't Forget Me: Celebrating Maeve Brennan in Words & Music

SEPTEMBER 2017

Good evening folks,

What a nice summer we've been having and I hope you're all keeping well.

Following on from our US tour earlier this year to Chicago and New York, I"m delighted to announce a our last concert of the tour at

the National Concert Hall, Sept 12:

You Won't Forget Me, Celebrating Maeve Brennan in Words and Music.

Pre-concert talk 7:15 by Angela Bourke, author of biography,

Concert starts at 8pm with readings by Cathy Betlon.

I know I haven't sent out a newsletter in a while .... sometimes it's like that .. but the trip to the States was just brilliant. Super inspiring on so many levels. Wonderful to have the opportunity to work with so many different people in the different settings .. the American Writers' Museum, in Chicago, onto New York for The Village Trip, (Greenwich Village Festival) at The Washington Square Hotel, the American Irish Historical Society, and finally named by Downbeat's as one of top 100 Jazz Clubs in the world, The Cornelia St. Cafe. We stayed in the Washington Sq Hotel which has been a haunt for artists since 1907 - Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Hemingway, to Maeve Brennan had all stayed there ....! Well, I have an article coming out soon on it all that I will send on .....

So, the concert in the NCH is really the culmination of this year's work and the US tour on Maeve Brennan .. And we do hope you can join us.....

with Angela Bourke, Cathy Belton, & Emilie Conway

Sunday, February 5, 5pm

"The air was mild and fresh and shone with the faint unsteadiness that was exactly like the unsteadiness of colour inside a seashell"

"...... an observation struggled with a hope inside my head." - Maeve Brennan

... what more can i say? ... I can't recommend this event or this lady's writing enough.

I am delighted and privileged to be a part of this event. The image above is a painting by artist Caroline Canning ;)

Delighted to be performing our first concert of Spring at the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast, next weekend. Yay! For old times sake I called it You Must Believe in Spring but there'll be lots of new material. And, after Easter we're headed west, to Mayo, the Linenhall, for a very special concert March 23. I'll be headed further West again, in May, as I've been invited to sing at the American Irish Historical Society, NYC. Very quietly excited about that of course - but lots of work before it happens, admin and music so ..keeping the head down for now...( with sporadic migration of tummy butterflies to the brain and krinkly smile eyes!)

There's more, folks, but I think that's enough for now!

Take care of yourselves and each other & I look forward to seeing you soon!
