May 2014: The End of "Dear World," and Emilie sings Piaf, Belfast..

May 9: The End of Dear World & Emilie Sings Piaf in Belfast & Ranelagh Arts Ctr

Well our tour "Dear World, Emilie Conway Sings Alec Wilder," has came to an end with a wonderful night at the Mill Theatre. Thank you from my quintet, Johnny, Damian, Dom and Brendan and I for coming to share this new music with us. It was a joy to see that you enjoyed it. Thanks so much to Allen Smith, Jazz on the Terrace and the Arts Council for facilitating the project... and thanks to the Ranelagh Arts Centre for the rehearsal space.

I'm slowly adapting to the general course of things again. Alec Wilder was often criticised for the non-serious titles of his music, but to me this was totally in line with his aesthetic, which was to say that music was a reflection and affirmation of life... and there is no doubt but that life in its infinite wisdom and mystery can certainly fire out a few non sequiturs....So why not tunes like, "Jack, this is my Husband," and "The Neurotic Goldfish!".... as well as "Give Me Time."??!

The good news is, if you missed the tour.. we are going into studio next Thurs to record the repertoire ...super excited ... so, as they say, watch this space.. Some photos below from the concerts taken by very talented Ewa Figaszweska.

But today and next Friday it's on to La Vie L'Amour, music of Edith Piaf in Belfast & Ranelagh Arts Centre. Do come along!
