December 2014: Winter performances

DECEMBER 2014

Good morning folks,

I hope you are enjoying the festive season! I hope at least one of your Christmas wishes came true! :)

In case you are looking for something to do for New Years, why not come into the Marker Hotel, Grand Canal Dock, (www.markerhoteldublin.com) and say hi to me, Linley and Scott!? I am singing in the Brasserie from 7:30 - 10:30 with Scott Flanigan on piano and then from 11-1 in the bar with Linley Hamilton, trumpet and we aim to make it the funnest Jazziest New Year's Party this side of the Jazz Age.

It's been a very wonderful year starting with the concert in the Unitarian Church in aid of the organ fund which I'm delighted to say is right on schedule with the organ being back in use by April 2015. What a treat! Next, the "Dear World," tour of Alec Wilder's music thanks to the Arts Council award and Jazz on the Terrace and then the privilege of being invited to give a lunch time concert, "Jazz on a Summer's Day," in the National Concert Hall in August which sold out. This autumn, we had the first of the Chamber Jazz gigs in Ranelagh Arts Centre and a performance in Jazzbar Vogler in Munich. And, after 2 years of ? good old home grown procrastinating, we shot the ballet sequence for my music video .. you'll see ............

And what is all of this? Each concert is an opportunity for me and my musicians to share with you the ideas about life, love, the mystery; the rose, the blue and yellow, as it happens in the notes and silences of music by us and composers and lyricists I love. That sharing is a both a joy and privilege. Thank you.

There are exciting things ahead in 2015, recording, tour overseas, Chamber Jazz...but more about that anon ... For now let me thank you again sincerely for your support of live music, and wish you and yours a Very Happy New Year. Look forward to seeing you !

Take care of yourselves and eachother

Best wishes,

Emilie
