April 2016: Shakespeare and Jazz
APRIL 2016
Good afternoon folks,
In the absence of any warmth outside, isn't it lucky somehow we have music ... and Shakespeare.....
To know the cause why music was ordain'd!
Was it not to refresh the mind of man
After his studies or his usual pain?
(The Taming of the Shrew)
I'm sure hoping my CDs will be ready for collection this day next week ahead of Thursday's launch, but mostly, you never know what's going to happen in a day...
And here's the story of what happened when I recently stopped into the charming French Le Petit Breton in Drumcondra recently for lunch. The server looked at me quizzically and eventually asked if I was a singer ? He remembered me from once upon a time in Bewelys Cafe Theatre when he worked in the bar and we used to have concerts there! Next the owner, Gregory Autret, introduced himself, saying he had listened to my music on YouTube, and would I come and sing there some evening ?
Mais, bien sir!!!
So:
this Friday 29th April, Bryan Mullen, piano and me
8pm Jazz & chansons @ Le Petit Breton,
14 Drumcondra Rd. Lr. Phone: 018500901
Do join us!
And in observance of Shakespeare 400 ... I leave you with:
How sweet the moonlight sleeps upon this bank!
Here will we sit, and let the sounds of music
Creep in our ears: soft stillness and the night
Become the touches of sweet harmony.
(The Merchant of Venice)
Best wishes and stay warm!
